Armed Forces to get leisure centre discounts

Past and present members of the armed forces are to get discounts of up to 70 per cent when they use Wandsworth’s leisure centres under new plans announced today by Jonathan Cook, deputy leader of the Council and Conservative councillor for Shaftesbury ward.

Battersea’s MP Jane Ellison accompanied the Prime Minister on a visit to Panorama Antennas in Wandsworth Town to coincide with the announcement that the UK economy has returned to growth.

Wandsworth to Welcome Boris Bikes

Transport for London has confirmed that ‘Boris Bikes’ could be installed in Wandsworth by spring 2014. Wandsworth Conservatives have actively campaigned to bring the bikes to Wandsworth and allow local residents to hire a bike and cycle to central London.

Bedford ward councillors are asking local residents for their views on the planning application submitted to Wandsworth Council for 98-100 Tooting Bec Road, the site of the Gardener’s Lodge, which was formerly used as the Patio Garden Centre.

Wandsworth’s Conservative administration has unveiled new plans to give disadvantaged local children a better start in life.

The proposals include creating 1,400 free early education places for two-year-olds from vulnerable families by 2014 and strengthening the range of early years services provided in the borough’s least well-off neighbourhoods.

Wandsworth's Conservative-run council has announced details of a new refuse collection service that will save local taxpayers nearly £1 million annually while maintaining weekly bin collections.
Kim Caddy, the Conservative candidate in the forthcoming Southfields by-election, met a senior Tesco executive today to discuss the future of the Grid Inn pub site.
Conservative councillors are proposing to freeze the Borough’s council tax for the fifth year running. The decision, subject to approval at a council meeting in early March, means Wandsworth will continue to have the lowest council tax rate in the UK.
