Kim Caddy put forward local concerns raised by residents about the future of the site to the company's corporate affairs manager. She asked for information about the timescale for development and the communication process with local residents, as well as reassurance that Tesco would act to support the local community and retain its village atmosphere.

Tesco confirmed it had taken a lease on the site and is in the process of developing a Tesco Express store. The company committed to seeking the views of local residents through either a public meeting or a 'drop-in' event near the site. An initial design meeting to set plans for the store will be held on 9th March and the company said the views of local residents would be taken into account when designing the store front.

The company agreed to send a letter confirming its plans to local Southfields residents and pledged to improve the current look of the site.

Kim Caddy, who was accompanied by local council leader Ravi Govindia and ward councillors Guy Humphries and Terry Walsh, explained that the store was welcomed by some local residents, but the store needs to become part of our community and play its full role in keeping the village feel of Southfields.
